With trumpet, with the sound of horns,
With strings, yes, with the lyre,
With voices praise the sovereign God,
A lusty, joyous choir.

—Psalm 98

Music at Mayflower is one of most important and vital ministries. Check out the video here.

As a powerful expression of the spirit, human and divine, the arts are a vital part of Mayflower. We enjoy visual art displays and celebrations, music, drama, and poetry in worship, special events, and as part of our physical facility.

The music program at Mayflower expands and enhances the worship experience, with traditional, innovative and multicultural music enriching our understanding of spirituality. Through incorporation of diverse musical styles, Mayflower members experience the power that music brings to worship and other settings.

Mayflower has four choirs open to singers of all ages: • Mayflower Adult Choir (led by Nancy Grundahl)

• Youth Choir for students in grades 7–12 (led by Dana Blanck)
• Carol Choir for grades 3–6 (led by Dana Blanck)
• Cherub Choir for grades K–2 (led by Dana Blanck)

All choirs meet for weekly rehearsals and regularly provide worship leadership from September through May. Small ensembles and soloists provide music for worship services during the summer months.

The sanctuary organ is a tracker-action instrument constructed by Charles Hendrickson in St. Peter, Minnesota, and installed in Mayflower in 1988. Members designed the carved wooden boats on the organ.

The New Century Hymnal, the hymnal of the United Church of Christ, is used in Mayflower worship. A favorite collection of hymns by Mayflower member, Marty Haugen, is also an important part of our hymnody.
