Creekside Commons Witnessing & Organizing Serving Our Neighbors
Social Justice

At Mayflower, we feel called to become catalysts for justice through communion with God, education, and action. We strive towards God’s dream of peace and abundance for all people, seeking to be both transformed and transformational. This mission informs all areas of our life together, including how we witness, organize, serve our neighbors, and give for the common good.

Freedom to Marry Day
On February 12, Mayflower rallied for marriage equality at the MInnesota State Capitol as part of Freedom to Marry Day. Lilly resident Mike MacMillan was one of the featured speakers, laying out a vision of a Minnesota in which all committed couples can be spiritually and civilly married. Copies of his speech are available in the kiosk outside the church office. If you would like to become involved in this work, contact Mike!

ISAIAH & GMAC
Members of Mayflower continue to work as part of ISAIAH to impact issues of importance at the state level. The tabling and personal legislative visits by Mayflower members helped influence the recent extension of GMAC (General Assistance Medical Coverage). For more information, contact Jim Bush at (612) 599-8943 or Dan Quillin at (651) 451-0689.

Guatemala/Honduras Human Rights Activist Visits Mayflower
Grahame Russell, human rights activist in Guatemala and Honduras, visited Mayflower in January to share information on human rights struggles in those Latin American countries. During an adult education session, Russell discussed Mayflower's 2010 delegation to Guatemala. Later in the day, he talked about current happenings related to the coup in Honduras, as well as spoke to the human rights abuses in Guatemala, especially those that involve gold mining.
