Faith-Based Organizing
“You shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.”
(Isaiah 58:12)
ISAIAH
Mayflower is a member of ISAIAH, a faith-based community organization consisting of more than 100 churches from many Christian traditions working for racial and economic equity in Minnesota. Contact Dan Quillin, (612) 367-4616, to get involved. View ISAIAH’s non-partisan “Claiming Our Voices Faith Agenda.”
Tabling & Action Alerts
On the third Sunday of each month, Mayflower members send postcards to legislators on pending legislation of importance at the local, state, federal or global level. Our diligent efforts, often coordinated with the larger UCC organization and other partners, ensure our congressional representatives hear our views on issues of justice.
As an effective progressive church, Mayflower members commit to organized acts of social justice, and our action alerts are a great way to do that. Sign up at the Welcome Table or email Rev. Christian Briones to receive a few strategic alerts each month. Learn more here about how the UCC’s justice work or to sign up for UCC Action Alerts.
We follow the lead of Protect Minnesota’s work to enact sensible gun laws and prevent gun violence. Contact Rev. Dwight Wagenius, Mayflower’s Community Minister.
Pilgrimages
Mayflower members annually make pilgrimages to areas around the country and world in need of attention, such as the School of the Americas, Guatemala and areas at the border of the U.S. and Mexico. More information here.
